by Jonas Hyde

Here I stand so still, lost of all my will,
trapped within this self I have longed to flee,
fact to Death I oft begged- ‘please come for me’,
but with pleas ignored, I drew my ain sword,
and with steel to self I since came to be.

Tho’ where fable starts, is with broken hearts,
for when I lost my truest love so dear,
my soul tore and from the wound came a tear,
which grew to a lake, a sign of my ache,
e’erlasting pain that was so severe.

Oh I weep and swoon, her end came too soon,
and tho’ I do not care to accept it,
for sake of solace with self I submit,
her death I did cause, I say without pause,
’twas accident- the crime I did commit.

With love impassioned, our pain was rationed,
primal lust without a regard for sin,
’til one twilight’s eve when I bit her skin,
not due to hunger, or to stay younger,
but to savour her taste when deep within.

An act done prior, ne’er ‘for dire,
tho’ this time my sharpened kiss was misplaced,
as crimson life ‘pon my lips I could taste,
flowing from her neck, lesion not in check,
it streamed heavily- pooling at her waist.

She gazed ‘pon my eyes, with her silent cries,
signaling her love as sorrow consumed,
I knew then quickly that her fate was doomed,
brought ‘pon by my act, no chance to react,
in that moment this current fate now loomed.

As most cravens would, I left home for good,
unable to face wrath for my actions,
with grief I fled- searching for distractions,
and as time passed on, I became withdrawn,
void of nearly all real interactions.

Now lost in despair, I whispered a prayer,
but my words went as silent as her last,
and I found no true comfort as time passed,
only my ain pain, became my new bane,
forging fires to end it all- alas.

I moved with blade free, down to bended knee,
and pierced my neck as I did ‘pon my muse,
but what came next served only to confuse,
for tho’ I so tried, my soul ne’er died,
my fate was ‘stead all part of Tempter’s ruse.

Yes it is all true, my payment came due,
He banished me when I took my ain life,
as Tempter claimed me whilst among the strife,
now I am to walk, ne’ermore to talk,
to my love- my muse I longed to call wife.

So now here I stand, not as how I planned,
betwixt Heaven and Hell is now my jail,
ne’er to die- tho’ my body is frail,
listen to my curse, through these words of verse,
or you too will be caught behind the Veil.
