Lorraine
by Jonas Hyde
My nightingale, she wept as I whispered her name,
tho upon my soul her beauty still cast,
my beloved true-Lorraine,Lorraine.
Through Tempter’s shadows so vast,
our love yet broke through,
so gazing into her eyes I had to ask.
“Do you feel it too?
This blessed affection I wish to keep?”
She then softly trembled back, “I do, I do”.
I admit her words made me weep,
for knowing my pain I questioned her verity,
as times before I’d been hurt so very deep.
But then it came to me in a moment of clarity,
as clear as the sun pushing way the night,
for her words were laced with such a poignant sincerity.
In the glow of my love’s light,
the time had come to wipe away all of our tears,
and with that, these words to her I tenderly write.
Lorraine, Lorraine, dismiss your fears,
for it is my life’s goal, my single aim,
to care for and cherish you always, all through our years.
